“Thus, saith the LORD, stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls” Jeremiah 6: 16
The Atwima Agogo Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Kumasi, of the Central Ghana Conference, on Saturday, October 22, 2022, honored the old ways of worship through music, costume, and cuisine in an event dubbed "BACK TO THE ROOTS."
It was joyful experience when church service was held under the traditional tents made of palm leaves and bamboo poles as done in the past. On wooden benches beneath the tents, members of the church happily sat down to worship. The surrounding scene did certainly represent the Sabbath of creation.
Members of the church were observed dressed in traditional costumes. Old-time songs that connect Christians to our roots were ministered by the Johnson and the Mighty Singers. The Older Women participated in the singing as well.
Following the ceremony, the congregation enjoyed a variety of foods made by the church, including fufu, banku, Adibi, ampesie, and others.
According to Pastor Yaw Asamoah Kwarteng; the president of central Ghana Conference the program has indeed reminded members of leaders who dedicated their lives to the advancement of the church.
He added that, it is up to the current generation to imitate their selfless service to God and his work.
