Adventist Girls SHS Embarks on Rural Community Donations
Extending a helping hand to the vulnerable and needy is not just a benevolent act but a divine responsibility bestowed upon both Christians and humanity by God. Guided by this profound understanding, the Welfare Society of the Adventist Girls Senior High School Institutional Church, Ntonso, in collaboration with the Mountain View Ghana Conference and Kwabre East Municipal Assembly, undertook a heartwarming rural community donation drive on August 26, 2023.
During this compassionate mission, several communities were visited, including Bimma No. 1 and 2, Apemso, Feyiase, and Ahwerewa. These communities are situated in the Asokore District of the Ashanti Central Ghana Conference, as well as the Sekyere East District Assembly of the Ashanti Region.
The donations made by the Welfare Society consisted of essential items such as toiletries, sanitary pads, washing powders, soaps, second-hand goods, and shoes. The estimated total value of these contributions was Five Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC 5,000).
Speaking to Hope Channel, Ps. Oteng Sarfo, the School Chaplain, offered a biblical perspective on the duty that institutions bear towards aiding the vulnerable and needy. He emphasized that this act of compassion mirrors the teachings of Christ and underscores the moral obligation of institutions to serve their communities.
Mrs. Christiana Obeng Mensah, the Coordinator of the Welfare Society at the Adventist Girls Senior High School, also shared her insights with Hope Channel. She highlighted the motivations behind these donations, underscoring the importance of instilling empathy and a sense of community responsibility in the students.
Miss Spendilove Nyantakyi, the Student President of the Welfare Society, explained how the items were sourced to fulfill their mission of supporting the needy and vulnerable. The students, driven by their connection with Hope Channel, displayed admirable dedication to this philanthropic cause.
Acknowledging the impact of this initiative, Ps. Paul Opoku Boateng, the District Pastor for the Asokore SDA District, expressed his gratitude to the school and students for their remarkable support. He also appealed for continued support from philanthropists, emphasizing that there are remote areas in need of assistance within the farming community.
Gratitude echoed from the heart of the communities themselves, represented by Nana Maanu Gyan, the Queen Mother of Ahwerewa. She extended her appreciation to the school and the Welfare Society for their benevolence and urged for ongoing support to uplift these communities in need.
