MID-GHANA UNION CONFERENCE CUTS SOD FOR RETREAT CENTER AT FEYIASE
On September 30, 2025, the Mid-Ghana Union Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church cut the sod for the construction of a new retreat center at Feyiase, a suburb of the Bekwai Municipal Assembly in the Ashanti Region.
The historic ceremony was graced by the full leadership of the Mid-Ghana Union Conference, including Pastor Dr. Kwame Annor Boahen, President; Pastor Dr. Alexander Agyapong, Executive Secretary; and other officers from various conferences under the Union. Also present was Nana Osei Tutu II, the Feyiasehene, together with other traditional leaders and invited guests.
The proposed retreat center is expected to be developed in phases. The first phase of the project includes a 2,000-bed hostel facility, a modern conference hall, washrooms, and other essential amenities. This initial phase is projected to be completed within twelve months.
Speaking in an interview with Hope Adventist News, Pastor Dr. Kwame Annor Boahen explained that the project is in line with the church’s vision to provide a permanent and well-structured facility for camp meetings, leadership training programs, and official church gatherings. He emphasized that the retreat center will serve as a hub for both spiritual renewal and leadership development, ensuring the growth of the church’s mission.
Providing historical context, Nana Osei Tutu II, the Feyiasehene, recounted how the land was originally given to an American missionary, Pastor Johnson, decades ago with the vision of building a retreat center for the Adventist Church. However, that vision could not be fully realized until now. He expressed his joy that the Union leadership has finally committed to fulfilling the original purpose for which the land was allocated.
Pastor Dr. Alexander Agyapong, Executive Secretary of the Mid-Ghana Union Conference, outlined the technical details of the project, assuring church members that the center will be developed to international standards. He added that the facility will not only benefit the Adventist Church but will also serve the wider community by hosting educational, health, and community development programs.
The sod-cutting marks the beginning of a significant milestone for the Mid-Ghana Union Conference as it seeks to strengthen its infrastructure for mission and service.
