Dochiwa Adventist Church Holds Clean-Up Exercise

The Dochiwa Seventh Day Adventist Church (SDA) has organized a clean-up exercise in the Kunka Electoral Area in the Obuasi Municipality. The exercise was to ensure effective cleaning of the community to keep the town from both bacterial and virus infections.

Elder James Osei, the first Elder of the Church said the church decided to undertake the exercise in fulfilment of the mandate that, “cleanliness is next to godliness”. He said it was the vision of the church to make the town an epitome of cleanliness to other communities and the country as a whole.

On his part the district Elder, Elder Peter Sah, said as Christians it was their duty to ensure that the environment was always clean. He said it was about time church activities were not limited to the spiritual growth of their members only but to ensure that they took part in ventures that help the people to live in a sound and healthy environment and to reduce the incidence of diseases like cholera and other communicable diseases.

"We are all citizens of the country and apart from seeking our spiritual wellbeing we must also think of our physical development and play our part in the building of the nation," he said.

Mr. Emmanuel Mensah, A Unit Committee Member of the area in an interview commended the Adventist church for their efforts in taking up the lead as a religious organization to clean up the environment.

“This is what we expect the churches to do because the members of the church, are also natives of the Dochiwa community,” he added.

He pleaded with residents and other religious bodies to follow the footsteps of the Adventist Church.
