HEARING IMPAIRED EVANGELISTIC CAMPAIGN IN BEKWAI: A SPIRIT-FILLED HARVEST
The Mid Ghana Union Conference, in collaboration with the Ashanti South Ghana Conference, conducted a powerful seven-day Evangelistic Campaign for the hearing-impaired from May 18 to May 24, 2025, at the Asante Bekwai Central Seventh-day Adventist Church.
The campaign was led by Elder Paul Baafi, a devoted Deaf Evangelist from the Central Ghana Conference, alongside Pastor Henry Brenya Afoakwa, the Adventist Possibility Ministries Director for the Mid Ghana Union Conference. The event was hosted by Pastor Francis Nsafoah, the Ashanti South Conference Possibility Ministries Director.
With the mission of making the Three Angels’ Messages accessible to the hearing-impaired, the gospel was presented entirely in Ghanaian Sign Language, offering a deeply personal and spiritually transformative experience to the Deaf and hard-of-hearing attendees.
To the glory of God, the campaign concluded with a spiritual breakthrough, as 11 Deaf individuals gave their lives to Christ through baptism. These new members were joyfully welcomed into the Bekwai Deaf Adventist Church, marking a significant milestone for the Adventist Possibility Ministries in the region.
As part of the campaign’s long-term impact, the Ashanti South Ghana Conference—through the efforts of the Bekwai Central SDA Church—launched a Sign Language School. This initiative seeks to train church members and volunteers interested in sign language, to equip more individuals for ministry to the Deaf and to foster the growth of Deaf congregations across the conference.
At the launch, Pastor Henry Brenya Afoakwa emphasized the importance of the Sign Language School, stating that it would enhance participation in the Possibility Ministries and bridge the communication gap between the Deaf and hearing church members.
In an interview with Hope Adventist News, Elder Paul Baafi, the main speaker of the campaign, expressed his joy over the success of the crusade and the eleven precious souls that were won for Christ through sign language evangelism.
Pastor Asiamah, Executive Secretary of the Ashanti South Ghana Conference, also spoke after the launch. He assured that the Conference would fully support the training of students in sign language to expand the work of the Possibility Ministries and ensure effective discipleship.
A newly baptized member, Jessica, who is Deaf, shared her excitement with Hope Adventist News, saying she felt overwhelmed with joy to be born again and to have been baptized into the Seventh-day Adventist Church. She expressed her gratitude for finally being able to understand the gospel in a language she could fully relate to.
Indeed, the Deaf Evangelistic Campaign in Bekwai was a divine harvest, proving that when the gospel is made accessible, lives are transformed, and Heaven rejoices.
