Hwidiem District Honours it’s Church Elders

Elders appointed by the church are chosen to have a care for the prosperity of the church.

The district Pastor, and the administration of the Ahafo Hwidiem District in the Green-view Ghana conference on Saturday 15th October, 2022 held Elders Appreciation Day to honor and celebrate the selfless efforts of the elders in the district. The elders were presented with specially branded shirts with tie which they wore for the service celebration.

The role of a church elder in the Adventist Church is of fundamental importance. Reflecting on its function, in the light of the Word of God, is essential, as we run the risk of diminishing its value and relevance in these challenging days.

Be cautious with the steps you take today, was the topic of the sermon that featured a crucial passage from 1 Kings 22:5 by Pastor Boakye, the district pastor. According to him, despite criticism from certain church members, church leaders have to stick up for what is right.

In order to inspire them to continue serving the Lord and the church to the best of their abilities, several ladies who have served the church in a special way during the event were also given presents.

“Wives in particular serve crucial supportive responsibilities for their spouses who are church leaders. Therefore, the significant roles that elder wives have played in their husbands' lives cannot be overstated.” Pastor Boakye said.

However, he issued a warning that wives who have not diligently assisted their husbands in the performance of their tasks should change their ways so that God's anger won't befall them.

Pr. Boakye on behalf of the district prayed for God’s blessings on elder Emmanuel Gyasi and his family for purchasing a set of Public Address systems worth about thirty thousand Ghana cedis (Gh30,000) for the Hwidiem church.

Pastor Samuel Boakye and his wife hosted a party for all the elders and their spouses in a restaurant to round off the celebration of the day. They were supplied with a variety of dishes. The fun time was shared with their kids as well.

Speaking to some of the elders and women who benefited from the appreciation day, in her speech, Mrs. Paulina Addai emphasized how greatly they have been cherished for their devotion to both God and humanity. She also cautioned the church leaders not to be sidetracked by critiques but to go on in the Lord for the victor's crown.

Elder Godfred Gomashie emphasized how grateful they as elders have been for the great gift from their Pastor and administration. He also vowed their unwavering support for their pastor's mission.

According to Pr. Samuel Boakye, they intended to fully utilize the annual Elders Appreciation Day to show the church leaders their sincere gratitude. He claims that even at unexpected moments, these leaders have reacted favorably to him.

“We decided to take a further step in organizing a party for them to enjoy meals and have fun since its their special day”, he added.

He also urged other pastors to imitate such actions in recognizing the tremendous efforts made by church leaders.
