MID-CENTRAL GHANA CONFERENCE PRESIDENT CHALLENGES MEMBERS TO SING FROM THEIR EXPERIENCE
The President of the Mid-Central Ghana Conference, Pastor Daniel Kyei Baffour Jnr., has urged church members to sing from their personal experiences, emphasising that heartfelt singing reflects God’s goodness in our lives. He explained that when believers sing out of their life encounters, they not only glorify God but also testify of His faithfulness.
Pastor Kyei Baffour made this profound statement on July 12, 2025, at the Amakom Seventh-day Adventist Church, during the climax of this year’s Music Week Celebration of the South Central Ghana Conference.
Preaching under the theme “The Songs of Our Experience,” Pastor Kyei Baffour drew his key text from Psalm 137:1-4, where he highlighted how songs born out of personal encounters with God can have lasting spiritual impact. He challenged the congregation to reflect on what the Lord has done for them and allow those reflections to shape their music and worship.
As part of the Music Week celebration, the Amakom SDA Church embarked on outreach activities, visiting several health institutions including the Manhyia Government Hospital, Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, HAT Adventist Hospital, and Anweam Hospital. The church members sang, prayed, and ministered to patients and their families, bringing hope and encouragement through music.
The climax event was marked with a series of spirit-filled performances featuring the Church Choir, Singing Band, Youth Choir, and a guest choral group from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) known as Psalmist GH. The auditorium was filled with joyful melodies and songs of testimony as each group ministered powerfully to the congregation.
In an interview with Hope Adventist News, Pastor Samuel Agyemang, the District Pastor of the Amakom SDA Church, emphasized the importance of youth involvement in the church’s music ministry. He called on the younger generation to take an active role in church music, noting that as the older choristers retire, it is the youth who must rise to carry forward the work of God through music.
The church’s Music Director, Mr. Samuel Osei Acheampong, also shared insights into how this year’s Music Week was celebrated. Speaking with Hope Adventist News, he recounted the various activities held throughout the week, including rehearsals, evangelistic outreach, hospital visitations, and special musical services designed to foster unity and spiritual growth within the church.
The afternoon session of the climax was dedicated to hymn singing, where participants not only sang hymns but also learned about the stories and inspiration behind the songs. This time of reflection helped deepen their appreciation for the timeless messages contained in Adventist hymns.
The entire celebration was a testament to the power of music in ministry, leaving participants spiritually enriched and inspired to sing with a deeper sense of purpose and gratitude.
